Behind the Lens
Beginning his career at a small TV station as an electronics technician, gave him the opportunity to learn from the ground up the fundamental skills of video and television production. However, he soon found he had a passion and skill for telling visual stories with the camera and his career was firmly established in the world of video and film.
As a native of Florida, Robert took his training and years of experience scuba diving and transformed that into an extensive skill set of working on, under or near the water. This has led to work with networks such as Discovery Channel and National Geographic for documentaries on sharks, barracudas and other marine predators in the Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean. This comfortabilty around water has also led to several years of shooting competitive fishing tournaments for BASS and FLW Outdoors, adventure travel shows for ESPN, and competitive wakeboard and water-skiing films. No stranger to difficult environments, Robert also counts as a career highlight working on the BBC/Discovery television series “Violent Earth,” where camera teams found themselves filming in the middle of six tropical hurricanes in one of the busiest seasons on record. Underwater film cameras were used to document over 100 mph winds and rain in torrential downpours.
Having traveled and worked in over 20 countries and 5 continents, Robert has had the opportunity to work on projects for a wide range of clients including documenting the building of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park, where he documented the recovery of most of the animals on exhibit in the African Pavilion, and traveling to remote locations in Alaska to document the lives of brown bears and moose for the Nat Geo Wild series.
Experienced in the commercial and corporate video production process as well, with clients such notables in the business world as Microsoft, IBM, Dell, Sherwin Williams, Siemens, Honda, Touchstone, and Universal Studies, and have resulted in multiple Telly and Addy award wins.
With a keen eye for creative angles and compelling content, Robert brings an enthusiasm and fresh approach to every project. New camera platforms have allowed for new opportunities to find unusual perspectives in ordinary locations. He continues to pursue a passion for visual storytelling and sharing every client’s vision in a creative and engaging way.
